摘要

Prepn. of an optically active cyclopentenone of formula (I) (R is H or lower alkyl; n is 4-8) comprises contacting a dl-cyclopentenone ester of formula (II) (R1 is lower alkyl opt. substd. with halogen) with an enzyme having the capability of hydrolysing selectively either one of the d- or l-form isomer in (II) in an aq. medium for asymmetric hydrolysis. The enzyme may be an esterase produced by e.g. Pseudomonas, Aspergillus, Mucor, Candida cylindracea, Alcaligenes, Achromobacter, Arthrobacter, Chromobacterium or Rhizopus delemar.
