PURPOSE:To provide a new phenol derivative useful as an electron-accepting compound for recording material. CONSTITUTION:The compound of formula [R1 to R3 are H, halogen, hydroxy, etc.; Ar is (substituted)aryl; Z is bivalent group], e.g. 1,4-bis(3-phenyl-4- hydroxyphenylsulfonyl)butane. The compound of formula I can be produced by oxidizing the corresponding sulfide derivative. |
