PURPOSE:To provide a cushioning material degradable in the natural environment, consisting of a thermoplastic polymer composition mainly comprising polylactic acid or a copolymer of lactic acid and a hydroxycarboxylic acid. CONSTITUTION:The objective cushioning material consists of a thermoplastic polymer composition mainly comprising polylactic acid or a copolymer of lactic acid (pref. L-lactic acid and/or D-lactic acid) and a hydroxycarboxylic acid. When embedded underground or discarded to the sea or river as a waste, this cushioning material can be degraded into nontoxic water and carbon dioxide within a short period of time in the natural environment similarly to the cases with natural matter such as paper or wood. The above hydroxycarboxylic acid is pref. glycolic acid. |
