Described is a flame-retardant thermoplastic composition comprising a styrene polymer containing an effective quantity of a synergetic mixture of a chlorinated hydrocarbon containing at least 40% by weight of combined chlorine, an inorganic oxygen containing compound of a metal belonging to groups III to VI of the periodic table, and polytetrafluoroethylene having a particle size of not more than 20 mu m.
