METHOD FOR PROCESSING SILICONE RUBBER COMPOUND HAVING HIGH PLASTICITY

PURPOSE:To readily process a silicone rubber compound having high plasticity while maintaining crosslinking characteristics and physical properties by blending a silicone rubber compound having high plasticity with an organopolysiloxane having a low polymerization degree. CONSTITUTION:(A) 100 pts.wt. silicone rubber compound having >=800 William plasticity (after three minutes) and poor processability and (B) 0.5-10 pts.wt., preferably 3-7 pts.wt. cyclic and/or linear organopolysiloxane (preferably octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane) having <=10 degree of polymerization are heated and molded preferably by using a composition prepared by adding the component B to a raw material of the component A before the production of the component A and the component B is removed during heating and molding or during secondary vulcanization. The silicone rubber compound having poor processability can be readily molded and processed without damaging crosslinking characteristics and physical properties.
