<p>PURPOSE:To restrain the spattering of molten metal by reducing the consumption of O2 for blowing into a furnace at the time of melting steel material with the electric furnace and also lowering the voltage impressed to electrode before boring. CONSTITUTION:The electric furnace 1 is constituted with a furnace body 2 and a furnace roof 3, and the furnace roof 3 is constituted of a center roof 3A made of refractory at the center part and a water cooling box 3B made of steel around the center roof 3A and an electrode 4 is inserted and fixed in the center roof 3A. By this constitution, metallic lumps are charged into the furnace body 2, and the metallic lumps are melted with the arc from the electrodes 4 by energizing the electrodes 4 to produce the molten metal 5 and the voltage is gradually foosted to the max. voltage and also, O2 is injected into the molten metal 5 from an operating hole 2A through a lance 6. Then the consumption of O2 blown into the furnace is reduced than heretofore and also, the voltage impressed to the electrode 4 before the boring is lowered than heretofore, and after boring, the voltage is foosted to execute the operation. By this method, the spattering of the molten metal 5 is restrained and also the development of erosion by forming icicle-like solidified material of the molten metal 5 at the corner part of the water cooling box 3B is restrained.</p> |
