A self-applicator (10) has a handle (36) with two grooves (20, 22), a fork (13) with two teeth (14, 16) shaped at one end and a floss reservoir (38) with a floss spool (48) at the other end, as well as a screwed reeling spool (42) that closes the floss reservoir from above and can turn to the right. In order to make its use easier and to retain the stretched floss, a locking mechanism (37) built-in between the floss reservoir (38) and the handle (36) prevents the floss from being further pulled by means of a first segment (60) arranged on the lower side of the reeling spool. The floss extends from the floss reservoir to the reeling spool (42), around which it is wound, passing through the locking mechanism and the handle, between the teeth (14, 16) of the fork (13). The reeling spool is secured so as to prevent a slackening of the floss caused by reverse rotation by means of the second segment (62) positioned between the locking tooth (64) and the stop tooth (66). When the reeling spool (42) is turned to the right over 180 DEG , further floss is pulled out of the spool (48) in the reservoir (38) and is secured so as not to slacken by the locking mechanism (37) and by the stopping mechanism (39). |
