One or more programmes are reserved out of a programme selection via the normal telephone network (9) at a reservation centre control (BC1 and/or BC2), decoding information being transmitted from the reservation central control via the telephone network for decoding the reserved programme(s). Debiting basic information is transmitted to a debiting unit (11), permitting debiting corresp. to the reservation made. Decoding information is transmitted from the reservation central control only if the reserver has provided an authorisation code to the reservation central control. Each reserved programme is provided with an identification code which is used both by the reserver on reservation at the reservation central control and on transmission of the programme for activating the reserver decoder (4) exactly when the right programme is transmitted.
