<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the power consumption of a video/sound reproducing device by detecting whether the sound reproduction output is connected to a monitor or not and actuating a sound power switch in accordnace with the result of detection. CONSTITUTION:A detector means checks whether a monitor connection code 9 is connected or not to a connector 7 which connects a sound reproduction circuit 4 to a monitor 2. Then the means 10 outputs a signal based on the checking result, and a switch 11 provided on a power supply line 12 which supplies the power to the circuit 4 is actuated by a power supply 5. Then the power supply is cut to the circuit 4 when the code 9 is not connected to the connector 7. As a result, the circuit 4 consumes no power when the sound reproduction is not needed, therefore, labor saving can be made.</p> |
