To allow stable stacking of nestable crates and eliminate the problem of disadvantageous loads being imposed on a crate lid by a nestable crate which has been stacked on top, retaining ridges 4 which run parallel to the outer circumference of the lid and are substantially perpendicular to the top surface of the lid, and the inner surface of which is at a short distance from the outer circumference of the lid, are arranged at the corners of the lid; moreover, the lid, at the location of the areas where the said retaining ridges 4 are located, is provided with reinforcement ribs 5 which are substantially perpendicular to the surface of the lid. <IMAGE>
