PURPOSE:To enhance the correction probability of an error of a low order conversion coefficient in which an error is conspicuous in a reproducing side by utilizing effectively an amount of information which can be recorded. CONSTITUTION:In the case an amount of information of a compressed video signal is smaller than an amount of information which can be recorded, by using all conversion coefficients after adaptive quantization subjected to serial conversion by a parallel-series converting means 4, and a low order conversion coefficient after adaptive quantization subjected to serial conversion by a low order parallel-series converting means 8, an information word is generated by an error correction block generating means 9, subjected to error correction and encoded, and thereafter, recorded in a tape. |
