UTILIZATION OF REJECTED LASER LIGHT IN OPTICAL SYSTEM

PURPOSE: To improve the signal-to-noise ratio of a reflection storage member light beam, to improve the signal-to-noise ratio in the focusing position control of an optical head to a storage medium 10 and to improve a servo operation. CONSTITUTION: The light 13 of a magneto-optical recorder from a laser beam is divided into two parts, that are a data beam 11 to be abutted on a magneto- optical storage member and abandonment light 21 guided to be away from the storage member. The abandonment light is interrupted by a mirror 20, reflected to a beam splitter 14 and combined with the light 11 reflected from the storage member 10 in a phase coherent form.
