PURPOSE:To provide an electric double layer capacitor capable of increasing storable charge amount to a great extent by improving the electrolyte. CONSTITUTION:Fused salt 17 is put and sealed as an electrolyte in an electric double layer capacitor having an electric double layer composed of polarizable electrodes 12 and 12 and an electrolytic interface. Ions are implanted and adsorbed with high density in the surfaces of the polarizable electrodes 12 and 12 without being prevented by a solvent, and charge density in the vicinity of the polarizable electrodes 12 and 12 is increased.
