PURPOSE:To perform the catalytic reduction and decomposition of nitrogen oxide using a catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxide showing high denitration activity within a range from a low temp. region to a high temp. region and excellent in durability and heat resistance. CONSTITUTION:A catalyst for reducing nitrogen oxide having vogesite type zeolite and an active metal component supported thereon has characteristics such that Na2O content is 2.0wt.% or less (A), an SiO2/Al2O3mol ratio is 6.0 or more (B) a unit lattice constant is 24.55Angstrom or less (C) and ammonia stability is 80% or more (D).
