DATA RECORDING METHOD FOR MAGNETIC TAPE

PURPOSE:To rewrite data for each record without needing any initializing time and labor. CONSTITUTION:In a data recording method, plural records of the fixed length are recorded on a magnetic tape 3 and the data can be rewritten for each record. A post-margin part 5 is added to the end of a record 4 together with a reference signal 6 serving as a standard of the recording start position of the next record 10. At the same time, the signal 6 is reproduced and detected when a recording operation is started. Thus recording operations are started for a pre-margin part 9 and the record 10. Then the signals 6 are added to the end of each record in the first recording operation. Meanwhile only the records ere recorded with no addition of the signal 6 when the records are rewritten.
