The apparatus makes the armchair adapted to the optimally comfortable state corresponding to the seated posture or phisique of the user by adjusting the position of the seat and head rest. The apparatus comprises the head rest (1) attached to an elevation means (4) formed within a back support (2); the seat (12) attached to an upper part of a back-and-forth moving means (5) fixed to a frame of the armchair; a flexible mat (14) covering the seat (12) and the back rest (2) fixed to the head rest (1); a cushion seat (15) covering the flexible mat (14). The elevation means (4) are engaged with the back-and-forth moving means (5).
