<p>A waste compactor of the type comprising an upwardly open waste container (3, 60), a roller (5) mounted on a support (4, 6) for movement within the container (3, 60) to travel over waste (7) in the container (3, 60) for waste compaction, the roller (5) being movable up and down in the container (3, 60) as waste builds up in the container (3, 60). Advantageously according to the invention the support comprises a support arm (6) slidably mounted on a support frame (4), the arm (6) being inclined downwardly from the support frame (4) towards the roller (5). For waste compaction a ram (12) is operable to slide the arm (6) on the support frame (4) to urge the roller (5) against the waste (7).</p> |
