The circuit has a pair of shift registers (1,2) that connect with an input of a circuit (6) that selectively performs addition and subtraction. The output of the processor is received by a results register generating 5211 code. The input registers have outputs cross coupled back to the inputs and one of these also can receive the result register output via a gating circuit (9) and logic gates (48). A control circuit generates control pulses. ADVANTAGE - Reduces number of logic devices required.
