The neck (17) of a bass guitar is hollow and receives two bars (2,3) arranged parallel to each other, with one bar (3) somewhat longer than the other one (2). The two bars are rigidly fastened to each other at the end (4) nearer to the guitar body. At the other end, the end of the shorter bar has an external right hand thread which screws into a bush (8). The longer bar has an internal left hand thread, which receives a screw passing through a hole in the end wall of the bush.
