Woven fibre-glass fabric - is impregnated with aq. dispersion, e.g. of acrylic] resin, modified by addn. of amine and a high b.pt. solvent
摘要
Woven glassfibre fabric (I) i impregnated with an aq. dispersion (II) contg. up to 6 (pref. 0.5-1)% solvent or solvent mixt. with b.pt. above 150 deg.C (III) and up to 6 (pref. 0.5)% amine (IV). USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is useful for producing impregnated glassfibre fabric with acrylic resin etc. for use as reinforcing material for grinding wheels and insulating materials. W.r.t. prior-art modifiers (eg. phenolic resin in alcohol), enables more rapid impregnation with lower consumption of energy, combined with good fibre wetting and good fibre/resin adhesion. In an example, 40 kg. aq. acrylate dispersion contg. 0.5 wt.% triethylamine was mixed with 0.4 kg. propylene glycol. Woven glassfibre was drawn through this mixt. under tension and dried at 110 deg.C and 12 m/min. to give resin-impregnated glassfibre with base wt. 270 g/m2. The prod. was used for reinforcing grinding wheels.
