An elastic supporting member for use in a shadow mask frame (6) has a fixing plate (20) attached to the shadow mask frame; a supporting plate (22) suspended from a conventional stud pin (14); a spring member (25) interposed between the fixing plate (20) and supporting plate (22); a pin (48) by which a bracket (30) of the fixing plate and the bracket (42) of the supporting plate (22) are hinged on each other; and stoppers (32, 44) to define the disposing distance between the fixing and supporting plates.
