PURPOSE:To compensate for a density change in a transfer process by adjusting an exposure lamp voltage, an electrification unit voltage, a developing bias voltage, and a transfer electrification voltage so that the output image density after the transfer approximates to the target image density. CONSTITUTION:The image density controller is provided with an input change vector determination circuit 310 which determines an input change vector, an input vector renewal circuit 311 which renews the input vector inputted to a copying machine based on the output of the input change vector determination circuit 310, an output sign detecting circuit 313 which detects the signs of the change directions of the output (the fixed direction is determined as positive or negative) from the output of an output vector calculator 113, a qualitative model correction circuit 312, and an error sign detection circuit 308. Toner concentration after the transfer is detected on a transfer belt. Based on the qualitative relationship of the copying machine including the transfer process set by a qualitative calculation circuit 303, the exposure lamp voltage, electrification unit voltage, developing bias voltage and transfer electrification unit voltage are adjusted so that the output image density after the transfer matches the target image density. |
