PURPOSE:To enable high-speed processing by pipeline processing by dividing the processing into coordinate conversion and contour generation and coupling a coordinate converting means with a contour generating means on a pipeline basis by a buffer memory. CONSTITUTION:This character pattern generation device is provided with a coordinate conversion processing processor 31 as the coordinate converting means which performs the coordinate conversion of character data into the bit pattern of a character to be generated and a contour generating processor 32 as the contour generating means which generates the contour of the character according to the coordinate data generated by the coordinate conversion of the coordinate conversion processing processor 31. A shared memory 33 is used in common by a CPU 1 and the coordinate conversion processing processor 31. The buffer memory 34 couples the coordinate conversion processing processor 31 and contour generating processor 32 with each other and transfers the converted coordinate data outputted by the coordinate conversion processor 31 to the contour generating processor 32. Consequently, the processing for character pattern generation can be performed fast through the one character development buffer. |
