PURPOSE:To separate and recover heavy metals as much as possible and to regenerate a ferric chloride soln. with the waste ferric chloride soln. contg. the valuable heavy metals such as copper and chromium contained in the waste etchant in the production field of electronic parts as the object. CONSTITUTION:The waste etchant of the ferric chloride soln. contg. at least >=0.1wt.% ferric chloride is mixed with an enough amt. of iron material to reduce the ferric chloride and to reduce the copper contained in the soln. to metallic copper, the mixture is heated and agitated, and the metallic copper is filtered off. The filtrate contg. >=0.1wt.% ferric chloride is again mixed with iron material to precipitate chromium which is filtered off. The remaining soln. is chlorinated to regenerate ferric chloride. Consequently, valuable heavy metals are separated and recovered, and a ferric chloride soln. is regenerated at a low cost. |
