METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR OPTICALLY DETERMINING ACCEPTABILITY OF PRODUCT

PURPOSE: To improve and simplify an optical testing system. CONSTITUTION: Every time when a sensor 22 detects a product 12 at the specified position in a conveyor 20 for conveying the product 12 to be tested, the product 12 is illuminated by a light source 30 and its static image is captured by a camera 24. This image is digitized and sent to a processor 26 for processing. The processor 26 displays the image on a display 32 and the display can be increased by the acceptable outline of product picture or other information including a certain characteristic outline. An operator judges according to the information and by using the other elements of the system whether or not the displayed picture of product is acceptable, and controls the entire operation of the system by using a data input device 34 and responds to the inquiry from the system.
