The labelling machine (1) monitoring method involves pumping (15) adhesive (3) from a container (4) to a gluing roller (18) until an overflow tube (22) begins to return it to the container. Measurement then begins while a computer decrements the gross wt. of the container standing on a balance (7), and counts the number of bottles passing through an optical barrier for labelling. The adhesive temp. or instantaneous machine capacity may be displayed continuously as the contents of the container are heated or cooled (14) before being pumped. ADVANTAGE - Consumption can be minimised for each special type of adhesive with appropriate temp. setting.
