A connector cap for a plug lead onto the top post of a spark plug has a plastics material housing containing a metal sleeve insert (6) with tags (8) stamped out of the sleeve to form the sprung grips onto the shaped post of the plug. The sleeve is continuous or slit lengthwise and has a clip fit inside the cap. The sprung connectors enable the cap to fitted and removed a large number of times with minimum wear. The sprung tags have two sloping profiles to provide the splaying action when the connector is fitted and removed. The tags bend about hinge lines at right angles to the axis of the sleeve. The splaying surface for removing the connector is nearest to the hinge and thus requires more force than for fitting the connector. ADVANTAGE - Simple construction, long life design, no weakening of plastics material cap.
