The crank wheel of the bicycle is linked to a damper (2) by a set of cranked levers while the chain has its upper section looped over a sprocket (6) on the damper cylinder. This provides a relieving force on the damper during the downstroke when pedalling and reduces the dipping effect on the bicycle during pedalling. The simple chain loops provide a stable control for the machine without a complex suspension. The damping effect is controlled proportional to the tension in the chain. USE/ADVANTAGE - Bicycle chain drive and suspension gives improved comfort and control, and is simple to fit.
