A hand planing tool has a rotating blade mount comprising a body (17) with at least one pressure plate (35, 37), the latter each holding in place a planing blade (23, 25) (in particular a cutting alloy rotating planing blade (23, 25) with a shaped reverse face and smooth base face) on the body (17); the pressure plates (35, 37) are forced against the body (17) by clamping screws (42, 45) acting on a covering shell (39, 41), and the pressures plates (35, 37) keep a supporting surface (27, 29) in place in a groove through the gripping surfaces (31, 33) of a small protrusion. The device solves the problem of using a single clamping device to secure more than one planing blade in the blade mount by having pressure plates (27, 29) designed in such a way that in a given position each one can secure planing blades provided with supporting surfaces (24, 26) of various structures and configurations including both narrow fine-gauge cutting alloy rotating blades (25) and thicker, heavier duty blades made of high-speed steel (25).
