PURPOSE:To provide a high performance paste type cadmium negative electrode for use in a sealed type alkaline storage battery, with which undergoing any chemical formation process is no more required. CONSTITUTION:An electroconductive core is coated with the active material consisting chiefly of metal cadmium powder and cadmium oxide powder, followed by drying processing and heating in an inert gas atmosphere at a temp. below 320 deg.C which is the melting point of metal cadmium powder. The powders of metal cadmium are thereby partially fusion attached to each other easily, so that a uniform electroconductive network of metal cadmium powder is produced, and an excellent paste form cadmium negative electrode is provided. |
