PURPOSE:To simplify the mechanism and control and enable a harness manufacturing device to be adapted for small lot multi-production, by providing a first and a second clamps and enabling the device to have adaptability for various lengths of cables without any limitation in length of electric wires being connected each other. CONSTITUTION:A first movable clamp (major clamp) 35 for measuring the length of an electric wire by moving in one direction while clamping it in a length-measuring section, and a second clamp (stationary clamp) 36 for retaining the electric wire whose length is measured by the clamp 35, are provided. The clamp 35 releases the electric wire and can move in the opposite direction to the mentioned direction, during retention of the electric wire by the clamp 36. As a result, in case the cable 2 length is equal to or smaller than a specified length, the clamp 35 is able to measure the length of the electric wire while clamping the same. In case the cable 2 length is equal to or larger than a specified length, during a time period in which the cable 2 having its length measured by the clamp 35 is transferred to the clamp 36 and retained by it, the clamp 35 is returned to make length measurement while clamping the electric wire again. Accordingly, even the cable 2 having longer than a specified length can be measured its length. Thus, the device has wide adaptability for various lengths of cables 2. |
