PURPOSE:To facilitate time change of a tire holding diameter by a method wherein the holding position of holding jaws is set to a setter in conformity to the size of a tire to be vulcanized so as to stop a holding jaw opening and closing driving means when a detector such as a rotary encoder or the like detects the arrival of the holding jaws to their set positions by opening or closing. CONSTITUTION:A lifting frame 8 is lowered by actuating a lifting cylinder 7 so as to stop its lowering when holding jaws 24a arrive below the upper bead part of a green tire and then to actuate an opening and closing cylinder 17 in order to rotate a cam plate for diametrically expanding the holding jaws 24a. After that, the output signals of an encoder 26 and of a setter are compared by a comparing circuit so as to complete the holding of the green tire by actuating the opening and closing cylinder 17 when the pitch circle of the holding jaws 24a arrives at tire pre-set value. Next, the green tire is hung by reversely actuating tire lifting cylinder 1 so as to stop the rising of the tire when the tire arrives at the predetermined height in order to swing the green tire in the vulcanizer by actuating a rocking cylinder 12. |
