PURPOSE:To prepare a dietary fiber material which functions very well as an absorbent member by acetylating a porous composite obtd. by foaming a composite consisting of a water-sol. dietary fiber and chitosan. CONSTITUTION:A porous composite obtd. by foaming a composite consisting of a water-sol. dietary fiber and chitosan and having a structure wherein chitosan is combined with or attached to the fiber chemically or physically is acetylated to give a stable porous composite wherein chitosan and the fiber have been fixed. The fiber is a water-sol. hardly digestable component mainly comprising a polysaccharide, examples having a vegetable-derived polysaccharide, a seaweed-derived polysaccharide, a microorganism-derived polysaccharide, and a chemically modified polysaccharide. The obtd. stable porous composite is excellent in water resistance and water retention and can be widely used as a water-retentive structure in medical, hygienic, and cosmetic applications. |
