An electric switch with a switching mechanism with at least two contacts (17) arranged in a housing (1) from which project connecting members (4) connected to said contacts and with an actuating device (3) for at least one of the contacts (17) fitted to a contact spring (5, 10). The housing (1) consists of a base (2) and a cap (3) closable by the base (2) which can be drawn out of the base from its closed position and taken to a position of use in which it is pivotly fixed on the base (2), in which at least the connecting member (4) for the contact (11) to be actuated is taken out through a sealed passage and the contact spring (5) projects into the cap (3) in such a way that it can be swung outwards by pivoting the cap (3).
