PURPOSE:To display route information to the destination as well as the present position in an easily understandable way in a navigation system for displaying a neighboring map according to the present position of a moving body such as an automobile. CONSTITUTION:An on-road coincidence detecting part 3 detects whether the present position of a moving body exists on a trunk road in first map information stored in a map information storage part 2 at a small scale factor, that is, to mainly display only trunk roads so as to enable the grasp on the whole. In the case of the present position not existing on the trunk road, the single nearest trunk road is found by a distance computing part 4, and a new road is described by an image describing part 5 and displayed by a display part 8. |
