<p>PURPOSE:To stably in large amounts obtain coixol (6-methoxy-benzoxazolinone) having sedative action from a cultured mixture obtained by subjecting a tissue piece or cell of a plant body of adlay, corn or wheat to tissue culture in a nutritive medium. CONSTITUTION:A tissue piece or cell of plant body of adlay, corn or wheat is subjected to tissue culture in a nutritive medium and then cultured mixture thereof is heated or treated with an alkali. Thereby coixol useful as a component of a functional food or healthy food for relaxing tension of mind and body and stably retaining the mind and body is collected from the cultured mixture in large amounts. Furthermore, the cultured mixture may directly be heated or after culture medium is removed and water, alcohol, etc., is added, the cultured mixture may be heated. The sufficient amount of coixol can be extracted by heating the cultured mixture at 40-70 deg.C for >=4hr. In the case of alkali treatment, the extract is preferably carried out using an alkaline solution obtained by adding an alkali agent such as sodium hydroxide, potassium hydroxide, ammonia or sodium carbonate to an alcohol such as methanol or ethanol so as to become >=0.02 normality.</p> |
