The invention relates to a method and an apparatus for producing rolled stock from oxygen-free copper, in particular wire, in a continuous casting and rolling installation, comprising a melting installation, a strip-casting mould and a downstream continuous rolling mill. In order to permit the in-line production of oxygen-free rolled stock from copper, in particular wire, it is proposed according to the invention that the bar leaving the casting installation in a straight line be bent into the horizontal after being reduced in at least one deformation pass. According to one feature of the invention, the said pass and/or the preceding melting and casting operation should take place in a protective-gas atmosphere. The continuous casting and rolling installation for carrying out the method is characterised by the arrangement of at least one deformation stand (9) downstream of a strip-casting mould (6), the rolling axis of the deformation stand being coaxial with the longitudinal centre line of the strip-casting mould (6) and the region between the melting furnace (1) and the strip-casting mould (6) and between the strip-casting mould (6) and the first deformation stand(s) (9) being arranged under a housing (H). <IMAGE> |
