Wall or floor coating system for detection of fluid penetration - has insulating layer between conducting layers and monitors change in resistance

The coating system includes a fabricated structure comprising at least two electrically conducting layers (5, 7) lying one above the other. At least one electrically insulating layer is arranged between the conducting layers so that a high electrical resistance exists between them. The resistance is monitored for decreases caused by mechanical loading of the insulating layer and/or fluid penetration. The insulating layers are pref. of a poreless hardened resin. The conducting layers may be of resin with an additive, and with metal foil applied. ADVANTAGE - Monitors mechanical resistance to penetrating fluids.
