Beyond the open-topped channel (3) holding the cylindrical section (2) of a feed worm, a conical mixer and compressor section (7) of the worm enters a corresp. shaped mouthpiece (4) for discharged solids. The mouthpiece has an upper longitudinal slot (8) in which rotate the projecting teeth of a stripper wheel (9) to engage between the worm turns. The wheel is mounted on a transverse shaft and has considerably greater dia. than the worm core (13) in the discharge zone spaces within a housing (5) for the stripper wheel permit discharge of material detached by an auxiliary scraper (30). Radial slots (22) in the stripper wheel side walls reduce friction from material being discharged.
