The novel compound nonylphenyl neopentylene phosphite, or stated in terms of systematic nomenclature 5,5-dimethyl-2-nonylphenoxy-1,3,2-dioxaphosphorinane, is effective to stabilize cellulose ester resins against the degradative effects of heat and processing. Preferred stabilizing compositions for cellulose ester resins include the nonylphenyl neopentylene phosphite in admixture with epoxidized linseed oil.
