<p>PURPOSE:To accurately track an oblique recording track even when a tape-shaped recording medium is expanded and contracted by a method wherein a control means which controls the traveling operation of the recording medium is provided. CONSTITUTION:A first control head 221 and a second control head 222 are arranged respectively in positions where distances on a path for a video tape 24 from the lap center S of a drum 21 are respectively X1 and X2. This apparatus is provided with the following: a first phase-difference detection means 3 which replays a control signal, for tracking use, recorded on the video tape 21 and which detects the phase difference PHI1 between a first replayed replay control signal P1 and a servo reference signal rf; and a second phase-difference detection means 4 which detects the phase difference PHI2 between a second control signal P2 and the servo reference signal rf. The title apparatus is provided with an operation circuit as a control means which controls the traveling operation of the video tape 24 so that the ratio of the distance X1 to the distance X2 and the ratio of the phase difference PHI1 to the phase difference PHI2 are set to X1:X2=PHI1:PHI2. Thereby, it is possible to accurately track a recording track so as to correspond to the expansion and contraction of the tape 24.</p> |
