PURPOSE:To provide a color filter substrate composed of color filter layers having a uniform thickness and a feroelectric liquid crystal element which prevents occurrence of a defect in molecular orientation. CONSTITUTION:There are provided a color filter substrate and a feroelectric liquid crystal element wherein filters made of color resin in which pigment is dispersed in low temperature curable type polyimide resin having a photosensitive radical in its molecular and which have a substantially uniform thickness, are formed on a substrate 2, and the relationship 0<=5mum is given where alpha (mum) is a space between adjacent color filters in each pixel, and a protecting layer 9 and a patterned transparent electrode 5 are laminated over the color filters, successively. Light shield layers 10 are formed between recesses between the pixels of the color filters. |
