Seat belt locking reel locking mechanism

The seat belt reel is fitted on both ends with teeth (4) with the tips in such a position that they clear the tips of teeth provided on the inner edges of an opening (20) in the legs of a U-shaped bracket (6). The reel is rotatable with a shaft whose ends (5) are seated in supports (7) fitted on the outside of the legs of the bracket (6).The supports seat the shaft ends in enlarged holes (8a), and the shaft ends are kept in a normal operating position, i.e. with teeth (4) and (6a) out of engagement, by a spring (9). A sensor (10) with a catch assembly engages at sudden deceleration one of the teeth (4).The reel is lifted out of the normal operating position and the locking is completed by the meshing action of the teeth (4,6a)
