A lateral ball-bearing capsule (I) has at least one layer of heat-resistant plastic (II). Also claimed is a ball bearing with concentric outer (3) and inner (2) rings of radius r and r' respectively (with r greater than r'), and with a number of balls (1) between the rings. There is also at least one layer (4) made of (II) in a plane at right angles to the rolling axis (D) of the rings and in line with the running direction of the balls (1). Pref. (II) is polyester, polyamide, polycarbonate, PPS and/or thermoplastic fluoropolymer, e.g. PVDF; pref. polyester is polyethylene or polytetramethylene terephthalate, or polyethylene naphthalate. The layer of (II) is a mol. -oriented film, pref. biaxially-stretched, heat-fixed film. The capsule itself (20, 30) has an elastically deformable edge, at least on the periphery, pref. in the form of a lip (24) which is thinner than the capsule.
