<p>The present invention relates to an oil catcher or skimmer (1) for removing oil spillage (5) from a water surface (2), especially crude oil, comprising a drive mechanism (3a, 3b) for driving a web-like pick-up means (3) equipped with catcher elements (9) serving to bring oil (5) from the water surface (2) to a reservoir (6), and in order to provide a skimmer which is more versatile as regards operation and maintenance, as well as having a large capacity and enabling collection of thin oil as well as thick fluid oil or lumps of oil, and in order to provide a skimmer which is easily adaptable and adjustable to various operating conditions, it is, according to the invention, suggested that the web-like pick-up means (3) is provided as a link or lamella conveyor (3), and that one or more links or lamellae (7) are provided with a pivotable flap (8, 8a, 8b) which can be pivoted between a first position (8a) protruding from the main surface of the conveyor band (3) for thereby serving as a pick-up pocket (7) in a first upper of front area of the conveyor (3), and a second position (8b) substantially flush with the main surface of the conveyor (3) for thereby being influenced by a scraper means (11) in a second area of the conveyor (3).</p> |
