A coin operated release mechanism of the type used with supermarket trolleys has a facility to adjust the coupling chain length to suit the application. The unit has a lock mechanism (II) within a housing (I) fixed to the handle (III) of the trolley. The lower section of the housing has a chain (2) with a pin (VI) that engages the entry point (VII) on an adjacent trolley. Chain may be stored in a recess (1) and is secured by a pin (3). The length of chain is readily adjusted. ADVANTAGE - Allows length adjusted to suit.
