The adjustable armrest is for the door of a vehicle. It has a guide or guides (17, 18) running in a horizontal direction relative to a vertical baseplate (5) arranged on the door or a side wall. One part of the guide (24, 25) is arranged on a movable armrest (27) and another part of the guide (22, 23) is fixed to a horizontal section (21) of a retaining part (7) which is joined to the baseplate, and the movable armrest is displaceable by a drive.
