A plurality of turbines (fig.1) are located adjacent, roads, motorways, railways or airport runways to be driven by the wind from passing vehicles. The energy derived may be used to power a lighting system, to provide power for industry or to power lasers which in one embodiment are stated to be capable of charging the batteries of electric vehicles having conductors on their roofs.
