PURPOSE:To obtain the title composition which is a lowly viscous liquid and can impart flame retardancy to polyurethar even when used in a small amount by mixing a flame-retarding organophosphorus compound with a tribromoneopentyl alcohol and an antioxidant in a specified ratio. CONSTITUTION:0-5wt.% antioxidant is added to a mixture comprising 50-99wt.% flame-retarding organophosphorus compound and 50-1wt.% tribromoneopentyl alcohol. Desirable examples of the organophosphorus compounds include a halogenated phosphate, an oligomer thereof, a halogenated phosphonate, an oligomer thereof, a nonhalogenate phosphoric ester, an oligomer thereof and a mixture thereof. Desirable examples of the antioxidants include hydroquinone compounds of the formula (wherein R1 to R4 are each hydrogen or 1-4C alkyl) and/or organophosphorus (III) compounds. |
