PURPOSE:To establish a method for producing a porous ceramic permitting to adjust its porosity in a wide range, having an uniform pore diameter to prevent the generation of warpage, cracks, etc., of the final product, not requiring the employment of a pore agent, a flammable foaming agent and a foaming agent. etc., by a simple production process at a low cost. CONSTITUTION:The powder of a ceramic raw material and a binder are mixed with each other, thermally gelled, dried and subsequently calcined to provide a porous ceramic. The binder comprises the salt of a copolymer of a conjugated diene with maleic anhydride derivative containing >=0.7 mole of magnesium per mole of the maleic anhydride derivative. |
